We work down to the individual. This is the problem we face head on.<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t<h2>\n\t\t\t<strong>4.2 BILLION<\/strong> PEOPLE LACK ACCESS TO CLEAN WATER\n\t\t<\/h2>\n\t\t<h2>\n\t\t\t<strong>4.2 MIL MILLONES<\/strong> PEOPLE HAVE NO PROPER SANITATION\n\t\t<\/h2>\n\t\t<h2>\n\t\t\tTHE IMPACT ON  <strong>WOMEN AND GIRLS<\/strong>\n\t\t<\/h2>\n\t\t\t<p>The lack of water and sanitation services is especially difficult for women and girls. They are often responsible for collecting water, which takes them away from work and school. However, when they have water, all that changes. They have time to work, study and spend time with their families.<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<strong>266 MILLION HOURS<\/strong><br \/>\nthe time that women and girls spend looking for a place to go to the toilet each day\u00b9.\n\t\t\t\t<strong>46,000<\/strong><br \/>\nwomen who could earn an academic degree instead of looking for a place to go to the toilet.\n\t\t\t\t<p><strong>40 BILLION HOURS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>of people who do not have a basic toilet<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" aria-label=\"previous\" role=\"button\">\n<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" aria-label=\"next\" role=\"button\">\n<\/a>\n\t\t<!-- Comment to fix spacing issue\n\t-->\n\t\t<h2>$0<\/h2>billion in estimated economic losses due to lack of water\u2078\n\t<!-- Comment to fix spacing issue\n\t-->\t\n\t\t<h2>\n\t\t\tIMPACT ON<strong> ECONOMIC PROSPERITY<\/strong>\n\t\t<\/h2>\n\t\t\t<p>Spending hours each day fetching water or fighting waterborne diseases costs people money in medical expenses and wastes time that could be spent on income-generating activities. When families reclaim their time and health, they can turn it into education and work opportunities that lead to a better future.<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t<h2>\n\t\t\tTHE IMPACT ON <strong>HEALTH<\/strong>\n\t\t<\/h2>\n\t\t\t<p>Without access to clean water, people resort to using and drinking water from contaminated sources, leading to preventable diseases such as diarrhoea and cholera. These diseases waste families' time and money, and can even cause death. When communities have a safe water source, they can thrive.<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<strong>3.4 MILLION<\/strong><br \/>\ndeaths due to water-related diseases happen each year\u00b3\n\t\t\t\t<strong>450,000<\/strong><br \/>\nchildren died last year from water-related diseases\u2074\n\t\t\t\t<strong>1 in 6<\/strong><br \/>\nhealthcare facilities do not have hand-washing stations or toilets\u2075\n\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" aria-label=\"previous\" role=\"button\">\n<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" aria-label=\"next\" role=\"button\">\n<\/a>\n\t\t<h2>\n\t\t\tBUILDING <strong>CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION SOLUTIONS<\/strong>\n\t\t<\/h2>\n\t\t\t<p>Water For People es una organizaci\u00f3n internacional sin fines de lucro con sede en Denver, Colorado. We have a realistic plan to achieve lasting change: a plan that involves working with communities, empowering local workers, building sustainable systems, and sharing what we've learned with the world.<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t<h2>\n\t\t\tWHERE DOES <strong>WATER FOR PEOPLE WORK<\/strong>?\n\t\t<\/h2>\n\t\t\t<p>Water For People currently operates in nine countries around the world: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.waterforpeople.org\/guatemala\">Guatemala<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.waterforpeople.org\/honduras\">Honduras<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.waterforpeople.org\/bolivia\">Bolivia<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.waterforpeople.org\/peru\">Per\u00fa<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.waterforpeople.org\/malawi\">Malawi<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.waterforpeople.org\/rwanda\">Rwanda<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.waterforpeople.org\/uganda\">Uganda<\/a>, Tanzania, e <a href=\"https:\/\/www.waterforpeople.org\/india\">India<\/a>. Our staff in each country are familiar with the culture and language of the communities we serve. Based on grants and special funds, we have worked in over 40 countries since our inception, but we have found that a specific focus is more effective and efficient.
