Juana Olmos is 30 years old, she is the mother of a 10-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy. Juana's husband works outside the municipality cutting cane during the harvest season, she earns a living making mats (used to place on the ground to kneel or sleep, it is made with local material), each mat takes her two weeks of work and sells it for Q30.00 each.

Making Hygiene Fun

The community of Pachoj in Guatemala is 15 miles from the nearest town and challenging to get to – in the rainy season the trek to this tiny town can include more than a mile of walking along muddy roads that often become unpassable for cars. Because access to the town is so difficult, Pachoj lacks basic services like drinking water, sanitation, and electricity.
